Career History:
I lecture and do research in medical imaging and image processing. This involves capturing and manipulating images of the human body using a variety of methods such as x-ray, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, as well as digital photographs. Computer algorithms are developed to enhance these images and/or to extract useful information from them for use in the diagnosis of disease. My research requires input from different disciplines and I collaborate with physicists, radiologisits, surgeons, pathologists, nutritional experts, geneticists and of course other engineers. I completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, followed by a Master's degree and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.
