SA WISE MEET & GREET 2014 | 15 March
Meet&GreetSA WISE hosted our annual Meet & Greet event at the Dept of Physiology (LT 2002), Mike de Vries Building, Merriman Ave, Stellenbosch. Members enjoyed talks from our guest speakers, Marlene Cronje (Organisational Development Director, Power Construction) and Dr Evodia Setati (Senior Researcher at the Institute of Wine Biotechnology, Stellenbosch University) as well as meeting and networking with other SA WISE members.

Behind every successful woman is a "man"?
SA WISE held the AGM at the Sports Science Centre in Newlands on the 4th of December 2013. Members, family and friends joined us afterwards for a fun and informal discussion.“Behind every great man is a great women” goes the old adage. But is the opposite true? What kind of support is required to succeed as a woman in science, technology, engineering and mathematics? Our panellists discussed their own experiences and opinions. A video of the discussion will be posted soon!

OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

UCT Open School's Science Day 2013 (2 March 2013): Western Cape SA WISE committee member Dr Alison September and postgraduate students from University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University represented SA WISE at UCT's Science Day at Settlers High School in Bellville, Western Cape.

National Science Week (30 July 2012) Dr Liz van der Merwe (current SA WISE chairperson for the Western Cape branch) addressed female learners at Morreesburg High School, Western Cape. On 1 August 2012, she represented SA WISE at the Cape Town Science Centre, again addressing school learners.

UCT Open School's Science Day 2012 (March 2012): Dr Liz van der Merwe and Thyla van der Merwe (2012 Western Cape cahriperson of SA WISE) as well as postgraduate students from University of Cape Town represented SA WISE at UCT's Science Day at Trafalgar High School, Western Cape.
