| "The focus of the work is toward a reconsecration of the earth. The viewer will need to engage with the work in a visual, physical, spiritual and creative manner. The viewer becomes a participant in a ritual which relates to the rituals of Paiaeolithic people entering a cave, Medieval people going to a Cathedral, the journey of the Shaman entering a trance, the quest toward wholeness and correctness with the cosmos. The participant moves through 3 stages:
Entering the first stage indicates the desire to begin the journey into a transitional state. By stepping through the Yoni shaped portal you are entering the realm of the feminine, from here the journey needs to be one of enlightenment and discovery.
The second stage will lead to 4 mandorla shaped pieces of glass, with poems by Brian Waiter on them, aligned to the 4 cardinal points. The purpose of this stage is to connect the viewer spiritually and physically to the earth.
The path leads to the third stage where 4 mandorlas aligned to the cardinal points are carved into the soil. Each one contains or symbolises one of the sacred elements. The quest serves as an initiation into elemental and sacred mysteries. The concept of viewers being objective observers of a network is no longer appropriate, they become participants and initiates."
