Electronic Gender Links Click on the menu above for annotated listings of web sites with a focus on women, gender and development issues. We have prioritiesed African and Southern web sites. We would welcome suggestions from you - e-mail us There is increasing global dependence on new information technologies but much controversy exists concerning the relevance of ICTs for African-based women. The AGI believes that the Internet has important educational, economic and social benefits and if particular societies and groups are excluded from these benefits, current economic and political disparities can only worsen. ICTs are critical for acquiring and disseminating information for development. The African Gender Institute is committed to the production and dissemination of indigenous knowledge in all its forms and we aim to contribute to increasing the flow of electronic information from South to North. We are aware of the many problems facing African and developing countries in connecting and contributing to the Internet, and in particular obstacles facing women in accessing and using information and communication technologies. Go to AGI Newsletters where we regularly list useful gender & women related World Wide Web sites.
