Qualifications and Experience
Juwa was appointed Senior Lecturer in
2001 and is teaching Statistics and Operations Research. He was
previously the head of Postgraduate Studies (MBA) & Lecturer of
Management Sciences at the Copperbelt University, School of Business,
Kitwe, Zambia. Before that he worked in the department of Industrial
Engineering as an Assistant Superintendent at the Zambia Consolidated
Copper Mines in Kitwe, Zambia. He completed his secondary education
in Zambia and England, and his BSc(Hons) in Engineering at the
University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. He did his PhD in 1991 in
Operations Research & Statistics at Cambridge University, England.
Research Interests
Juwa is interested in developing
algorithms for solving integer programming problems. He is currently
developing:
- A cut and search algorithm for solving
pure integer programming problems.
- A slice and squeeze algorithm for
solving mixed integer programming problems.
- An algorithm for solving 0-1 integer
programming problems
- A heuristic algorithm for solving
tardiness problems
