- Bachelor of Science with majors in Zoology and Human Physiology from the University of South Africa.
- Employed as a Junior reserve manager of Bird Island, Algoa Bay by Eastern Cape Nature Conservation (1996/97). This position allowed expose to a variety of interesting experiences ranging from the tagging of Great White Sharks to marine archaeology.
- Employed in various capacities by the Scientific Services Division of Western Cape Nature Conservation (1997-present). Projects worked on include: seabird research on Dassen Island and Lambert's Bay, waterfowl counts at wetlands along the West Coast and the development of Bird Island Lambert's Bay as tourism destination.
- Currently involved in the analysis and dissemination of the accumulated data from Lambert's bay as well as the computerisation and interpretation of long term waterbird datasets collected by nature conservation scientists over the past 30 years.
- Qualified bird ringer with an particular interest in the African canary genus Crithagra.
- Currently registered for a Masters in Business Administration at the Management College of South Africa.
