Nest Record Card Project (NERCS).

Campus camera provided film to Kathy Calf and Les Underhill and processed it at cost price. This enabled them to record their experiences in Siberia.

Conservation Breeding Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission helped sponsor
John Cooper's attendance of
their annual meeting on Rottnest Island, West Australia, in 2001.
It also supported the Seabird CAMP (Conservation Assessment and Management
Plan) Workshop in Cape Town in 2002

Affairs and Tourism supports
SAFRING and the
Southern African Frog Atlas Project

Earthwatch Institute sent six
teams of four volunteers each to assist with fieldwork on Robben Island in 2001,
and the project is being repeated in 2002. The project is called
South African Penguins. The diaries of the six teams from 2001
are on the ADU website. This project also provided funding for the purchase
of equipment such as telescopes and assistance for postgraduate students
who helped lead the expeditions

European Bird Census Committee sponsored Les Underhill's attendance
at their conference in Nyirighaza, Hungary, in March 2001

Highlands Ringing Group donation towards the first AFRING waterbird ringing course.

The ADU works closely with
the Marine and Coastal Management,
of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism,
on a variety of seabird and shorebird projects.
In particular, we acknowledge their generous sharing of the MCM house on
Robben Island, and for their help with transportation to the offshore
islands

The Mazda Wildlife Fund has
continuously provided the Avian Demography Unit with a vehicle for more than a decade.
This provides transport for all the projects, but especially for the
Southern African Frog Atlas Project

Namibian Nature Foundation provided
support for the February 2002 seabird workshop. It arranged sponsorship for
Barbara Paterson's PhD research.
It also helped sponsor Jessica Kemper's PhD research

the ADU with its basic infrastructure:

financial management, etc, etc. Secondly, the University Research Committee provides financial support,
both for research projects and for students

Dr Henk Visser, of the Centre for Isotope
Research and the Zoological Institute of the University of Groningen,
the Netherlands, sponsored the doubly labelled water and associated

Southern African Frog Atlas Project since its inception.
It has been a long-term sponsor of CWAC,
the waterbird monitoring project.
