A ringing history of Old World Parus in southern Africa, 1948-2001

Ringing totals and capture methods

Ringing totals per species vary widely from three to 434. Capture is usually been with mistnets.

A relatively low proportion of tits have been recovered, resulting in the greatest movement being only 6 km and greatest elapsed time only 2y 7 m.

Individual species ringing histories

529 Rufousbellied Tit Parus rufiventris

Three have been ringed: one in 1966, one in 1974 (ringing details not traced). The third bird was ringed as adult male by Mrs D Hanmer in Mitsasa, Zimbabwe, on 6 June 1992.
