Gys
Hofmeyr SC
Gys Hofmeyr was a co-presenter of the
first maritime law course at UCT in 1981 and has remained involved in
part time teaching of admiralty jurisdiction and practice since.Adv Hofmeyr practised for many years at
the Cape Bar, specialising almost entirely in admiralty matters. This
means that he has been able to keep us up-to-the-minute on developments
in admiralty law. He has given wonderful practical content to our
course, and we are most grateful that we are able each successive year
to persuade him to give his time to us.
In recognition of his great
contribution to the teaching of shipping law, the University of Cape
Town through the Faculty of Law has appointed Adv Hofmeyr Adjunct
Professor.
We look forward to Professor Hofmeyr's
continued close association with our admiralty teaching.
