The Centre supports the Association for Rhetoric and Communication in Southern Africa, the only African communication & rhetoric body to have statutory affiliation to the American NCA and to have gained accreditation to UNESCO's FILLM. It hosted in August 1999 the first ever NCA study group abroad.

A major conference, to celebrate the 10^th anniversary of democracy in SA was hosted in 2004 and involved the Collège, NCA and the International Society for the History of Rhetoric.
