Helen and Morris Mauberger Professor of Neurosurgery and Head of the Division of Neurosurgery
Prof Fieggen completed his Fellowship in 1997 and was appointed as a specialist at Red Cross Children's Hospital and Senior Specialist in 2000. Until 2007 he was Head of Pediatric Neurosurgery; in 2008 he was appointed as Head of the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Cape Town.
His major interests are in the field of Paediatric Neurosurgery, particularly congenital conditions (dysraphism, craniofacial conditions and prenatal diagnosis), hydrocephalus, neurotrauma and the development of the Functional Neurosurgery program initiated by Professors Peacock and Peter, with the emphasis on surgery for spasticity and epilepsy. He serves on the editorial board of Childs Nervous Sytem and is the organizing chairman for the 36th Meeting of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
He has served in various administrative and research capacities, including as Chair of the Health Sciences Faculty Animal Ethics Committee of UCT and on the Executive Board of the International Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery.

David Le Feuvre

Post graduate training at UCT/Groote Schuur Hospital. Joined Neurosurgical rotation in 1998 and qualified FCS in 2002. At present doing the International Masters in Neuro-Intervention offered by Universities of Mahidol and Paris Sud.
Special interests: Neurovascular surgery specifically endovascular neurointervention. Smaller interest in skull base surgery. Working with Prof Allan Taylor.

Anthony A. Figaji (Tony)
Qualifications: MBChB (UCT); Dip Obstets (SA), FCS Neurosurg(SA); MMed (UCT), PhD (UCT)
Positions: Tony Figaji is an Associate Professor in the University of Cape Town, a paediatric neurosurgeon and the Head of Paediatric Neurosurgery at Red Cross Children's Hospital.
He has a PhD in brain monitoring in children with brain injury, a subject about which he has published in journals and written chapters for books, and for which he has been an invited speaker at international meetings. Prof Figaji is a recipient of the 2008 UCT Fellows' Award and of the 2008 Bronte Stewart Research Prize for the most meritorious PhD thesis in the Health Sciences Faculty. He collaborates with several institutions on research projects, mainly in paediatric brain trauma, including Lund University in Sweden and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Special interests: Endoscopic neurosurgery, childhood brain trauma and neurointensive care, hydrocephalus, minimally invasive neurosurgery, tuberculous meningitis. Peer-reviewed publications and international presentations on brain oxygenation and cerebral autoregulation monitoring, neuroendoscopy, tuberculous hydrocephalus, decompressive craniectomy in childhood TBI.

Sally Jane Rothemyer
Llewellyn C. Padayachy

Qualifications: MBChB (Wits), FCS (Neurosurgery)
Llewellyn Padayachy commenced his neurosurgery training at UCT/GSH in 2004.He completed the neurosurgery fellowship exam in May 2008, and was the recipient of the Krynauw medal from the CMSA in 2009.
He currently occupies a specialist post in pediatric neurosurgery at the Red Cross Children's Hospital. Special interests: Neuroendoscopic treatment of hydrocephalus, craniofacial disorders, pediatric neurovascular conditions and pediatric neurotrauma.
