	The Divisions of Medical Microbiology and Medical Virology are part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine,  in the Faculty of Health Science. The Health Science campus is situated on the foothills of Devil's Peak and approximately 2 km away from the main campus of the University of Cape Town. Each Division provides diagnostic services, training for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, as well as various research programs and training for science students interested in a research career.
