EARLY - MIDDLE PROTEROZOIC OF SOUTHERN NAMIBIA AND NAMAQUALAND
Photogallery of a field excursion from Windhoek to Springbok
The excursion focussed on Proterozoic terranes ranging in age from 2.0 Ga to 0.8 Ga, which occur south of the Pan-African Damaran orogen, exposed in the dissected escarpment region between the Namib sand sea and the Nama-Karoo-Kalahari plateau, the lower Orange River canyon and western Namaqualand

SOSSUSVLEI
Anybody tripping through the Pre-Namib mountains will not be able to resist the lure of the magnificent sand dunes, particularly those accessible via the Tsauchab-Aub river corridor, below Sesriem

The Fish River Canyon has cut through the Nama plateau, revealing basement gneisses of the Namaqua Province Migmatites of the Namaqua Province are exposed deep in the Fish River Canyon, beneath horizontal Nama strata
Complex multiple intrusion is exposed in the side canyons leading down to Ai-Ais; metagabbros of the Ai-Ais Complex are cut by grey gneissic granite and then by dykes of pegmatite and rose quartz View west from the Haib River, over the Tsams farmhouse ruins towards mountains containing copper porphyries
