How to use this database

All the files that appear below are available both as downloadable MS Excel files (which, once downloaded, you can modify as you choose) and as PDF files (which can also be downloaded, but can only be edited off-line using Adobe Acrobat Writer). The file entitled Roberts VII Names Database contains the entire database; other files contain names in selected languages. All files are arranged in the order in which they appear in Roberts VII and contain the relevant page number in Roberts VII.

How to add to the database

This database exists as a living document and can thus be regularly updated. If you know of any additional or alternative names in any of the languages included in the database, or indeed in any other language spoken in the subregion, please provide the following details and email them to the Roberts Database Manager.

• Roberts VII English or Scientific Name
• Language (new name)
• New name
• Region of use (e.g. Eastern Cape)
• Published source Y/N?
• If the answer to the above is yes, please provide details
