Administrative (financial) management, management of the Institute's computer facilities and technical support.

Chris Tobler was first employed as a laboratory technician in the department of Pharmacology, King's College, London. After moving to New Zealand he worked in the department of Surgery, University of Auckland Medical School where he was involved in studies in adrenal biosynthesis of steroids and was included as co-author on two papers published in Steroids. He came to South Africa in 1976 to take up a post in the department of Chemical Pathology, UCT Medical School where his interest in endocrinology continued into the area of reproductive endocrinology and accrued a further eight co-authorships. His career developed towards laboratory management and information technology and after leaving the department of Chemical Pathology came to the Institute in 1990 to manage the IT and day-to-day business of the Institute.
