Lovelater was born and raised in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. She completed her
BSc Honours degree in Forest Resources and Wildlife Management at the
National University of Science and Technology in her home country.
During her first degree she did her industrial attachment at a
rehabilitation centre the African Birds of Prey Sanctuary,
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. After completing her degree she worked
as a biology teacher and was involved in facilitating science projects
conducted in conjunction with the Communal Area Management Programme for
Indigenous Resources (CAMPFIRE). She is a trained facilitator for such
projects which aim to bring awareness of natural resources and the need
to conserve them. Lovelater is passionate about the conservation of
African forests and their inhabitants. She believes in educating people
about the consequences of their everyday actions on natural resources as
a way of improving conservation. She aims at finding ways of linking
biodiversity conservation and economic growth. Besides studying, she
enjoys travelling and meeting people from different cultures.
Mini-thesis
The
influence of climate, age and experience on the productivity of a winter
breeding bird (Supervisor: Dr Arjun Amar).
