Email: jayaneesh.namah@uct.ac.za

Jah was born and raised in Mauritius. Living on an island, she was an enthusiast of biodiversity from an early age. She graduated from University of Mauritius with a B.Sc. Honours in Biology, specializing in Environmental Protection. She volunteered at the Vallée de Ferney Trust in 2010, working with the conservation coordinator towards restoration programmes for the degraded and invaded forest remnants on the western coast of Mauritius. In 2011, she worked with an NGO, Friends of the Environment (Mauritius), to work on a project re-planting native species in green spaces. As the restoration coordinator, Jah facilitated workshops as well as researched and managed conservation issues relating to the project. She also attended a Tropical Biology Association field course in Madagascar in November 2011. Jah’s primary interest lies in the conservation of complex systems. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, dancing, poetry writing, and swimming.
