ANNUAL POSTGRADUATE CONFERENCE

Since 2009, the English Department has collaborated with postamble to host “Current Research in the Humanities”: a postgraduate conference that aims to encourage interdisciplinary discussion and facilitate the exchange of ideas amongst students from the various disciplines within the Humanities. The conference offers an opportunity for postgraduate students to present papers related to their research.

The first conference (October 2009) included papers from the English, Linguistics, History, Diversity Studies, and African Studies Departments.

This year’s conference (28th & 29th October 2010) will be hosted by UCT’s English Department, postamble and the new Institute for the Humanities in Africa (HUMA). As a result, the conference has extended its invitation to include postgraduate students from the Law Faculty. The conference has also expanded to include postgraduate students from UWC and Stellenbosch, with an aim to encourage inter-university collaboration.
