A secondary maternity hospital situated in Mowbray, ± 3 km from Groot Schuur Hospital.
Opened in 1967 it was renovated in 1992 and took over the responsibilities of the Peninsula Maternity Hospital (between the city centre and the infamous District 6), which has since been closed.

Anaesthesia staff consists of a rotating registrar, who provides a 24 hr anaesthesia and epidural service, with specialist cover from Groote Schuur Hospital.
A fulltime medical officer post (6 months) rotates within the anaesthesia department.

Tertiary obstetric services are provided at the Maternity block of Groote Schuur Hospital, with a fulltime anaesthesia consultant and rotating registrars.
